TKS and the Winter Enrichment Program (WEP)

KAUST offers a Winter Enrichment Program to its students and community every January.  The theme for WEP 2023 was ‘Edge – transform the world you know’.

More than 1300 students from The KAUST School participated in more than 20 activities, workshops and events – both at the school and on the university campus.  TKS guests included William Kamkwamba – inventor and “The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind” (which is now a best-selling book and Hollywood movie), Zach Jansen – son of Theo Jansen – inventor of the Strandbeest, the prestigious mathematician Professor Po-Shen Loh, and Ocean Sole – the flip-flop upcycling art project.  They all delivered engaging and fun activities and workshops for TKS students.  The students also got to meet and hear from Didier Drogba – ex professional footballer, Raha Moharrak – the first Saudi female to conquer Everest, Sofia Gomez – free diver, and Hilde Strøm and Sunniva Sorby – authors of “Hearts in the Ice”.

TKS is already planning for WEP 2024 – with the theme ‘Digital Adventures – the ride to the future”.
