TKS Grade 6 visit to the KAUST museum

As part of their unit of inquiry on Ancient Civilizations, the TKS Grade 6s visited the KAUST Museum of Science & Technology in Islam to explore the ways in which museums can show value, beliefs and characteristics of ancient cultures and civilizations.

With over 100 students, it was a logistical operation to schedule slots in order that all the students could experience the amazing interactive displays, and hear from Turky Algahtany, the very knowledgeable Museum Director.  The students learned about the early inventors and innovators from the original ‘Bayt Al Hikmah’ (House of Wisdom) in the 8th century, and experienced some of the early inventions.

The students also focused on a particular artifact of their choice and investigated how artifacts are displayed.  This will provide input for the students as they develop their own ancient artifact museum.  The pieces that they design and create will be exhibited in the Campus Diner during April.
