TKS Elementary students get involved in UN International Days

The TKS Elementary students partnered with KAUST Campus & Community and the waste management team to create artwork for World Environment Day (June 5) and World Oceans Day (June 8).  Their theme was taken from Earth Day – ‘Plastics v Planet’.

The goal was to raise awareness in the young school students about the detrimental impacts of plastic pollution on our environment, and art was chosen to be the language for this message.

Over three days, many TKS elementary students – led by in-house artist and events lead, Dima Alrifai – participated in building two pieces of art, made from recycled plastic bottles and bottle tops.

The artworks are now proudly displayed in the KAUST community… as a continuous message about the use of plastics in our world.
