The Grade 12 Physics classes had two opportunities to “get outside the classroom” in one week… they were invited to attend the annual Expo by the PSE (Physical Science & Engineering) Division at KAUST, and also had a visit and presentation from the Society of Petroleum Engineering.
The PSE Expo showcases the cutting-edge research conducted by the PSE Division and highlights the research work taking place across the programs: Materials Science & Engineering, Applied Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Earth Science & Engineering, Energy Resources & Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Science, and Chemical Engineering.
The TKS students were able to talk to the university students about their research across these programs. Many of the Grade 12 students are planning to undertake University courses in the physical sciences, so it was a valuable opportunity for them to learn more from students who are ahead of them in their learning journey.
University students from the Society of Petroleum Engineering visited the school to spend time with the Grade 12 physics students, to introduce them to the field of engineering/petroleum engineering. They provided valuable insights into university courses and career opportunities in this field.
