F1 rolled into Jeddah again in March 2024, and excitement was building at TKS as the students prepared to undertake their own race championships.
Mark Gillan, who is currently an Associate VP at KAUST, but has a long and exciting career history in F1, visited TKS to talk to the High School students about a career in F1 and engineering. He also met with the F1 in Schools group to talk tech, and caught up with the Soap Box Derby teams as they prepare for their Race Championships on March 9.
The excitement continued to build in the school as McLaren F1 driver, Oscar Piastri dropped in for a visit! He also met with the F1 in Schools group and the Soap Box Derby teams, and answered the students’ questions in a Q&A session. He signed many autographs and took photos with all the students in attendance. KAUST has a research partnership with McLaren and we wish them well for the F1 race day in Jeddah on Saturday, March 9!
The school was definitely buzzing with racing fever!
